Showroom and Office Commercial Space

Forks (and Knives) Out!

There’s nothing more exciting than designing a new commercial space! This new office and business showroom is the headquarter office for this company’s team as well as a showroom for their tableware, serverware, appliances, and equipment. Our design team welcomed the opportunity to set a tone that aligned with the brand vision of this Naperville company.

The Backstory

Some of our favorite design features of this commercial project include:

Cabinets, Shelving, and Displays Oh My!

We love the gray shaker style cabinetry with black matte hardware that was selected for the kitchen area. Complemented by an easy-to-clean quartzite countertop that brings in swirls of gray graining. We used custom floating shelves as opposed to wall cabinets to serve as the perfect spot to display tableware and serveware.

The Crown Jewel of Lighting Fixtures

One of our favorite elements to design and procure was the oversized clear glass pendant light fixtures which dance over the island. Another layer of lighting is provided with black, matte adjustable arm scones which capture attention without being overpowering.

Natural Palette and Thoughtful Texture

We selected a combination of natural wood pieces that were the perfect scale and supported the open, purposeful space plan. Each piece from the trestle table to carved wood sunburst doors adds texture and balance to the space.

Soft Touches for a Feeling of Home

A heathered gray medallion area rug was chosen alongside blue and multi-color accent rugs. Together, grounding the dining vignette furniture and adding softness. Just the right amount of color contrast results in this warm ambience, while still being professional.

Everything in this space was intentionally and carefully selected to provide balance, harmony, and maintain the overall earthy color palette and upscale decor. This cohesive space is a great example of how exceptional design is something you can just feel!

Kind words from the client

“I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone seeking the advice and expertise of an interior designer on their next project. Whether it be a residential or a commercial project, Melissa possesses the instinctive ability to transform your vision into reality. She takes the time to listen and understand the project scope and your goals, and then is able to take a creative, yet practical approach, to achieve something that would never have been possible without her significant foresight, experience, and expertise. From the ideation stage to the project completion, Melissa manages every step with outstanding attention to detail, and is never satisfied with the finished product, until you are. I always look forward to working with her on my next project.”

Not Your Average Commercial Space

Our client wanted the space to be warm and inviting, as though walking into the showroom were like a visit to her home. She didn’t want it to have a retail or typical commercial office look and didn’t want it to be too formal nor too casual. It needed to be just right, comfortable, and classy without being stuffy.

The products being displayed can be found in a variety of environments – anything from a school cafeteria to a fine dining restaurant, so the space needed to offer a flexible, neutral backdrop where different styles and applications could be easily visualized by customers.

Our Proven Process Brought Concept to Completion

Our initial design meetings with this client helped us get clear on which three main areas were needed. This space consisted of:

We laid the foundation with a warm, inviting neutral palette with earthy grays, beiges, creams, soft browns, and blues. We chose design elements that could be dressed up or down and handle anything from traditional to contemporary tableware.

We took into consideration areas of high traffic and high use and chose durable, easy to clean materials wherever they were called for. We kept things interesting but functional in all aspects of the design and listened closely to learn what storage and display items were needed.

Functional, Efficient, Uplifting

Our client, her employees, vendors, and customers alike love this new commercial space! The end result is a functional, beautiful space that fosters collaboration and innovative thinking, while being cheerful, relaxed, and welcoming. It checks all the boxes of functionality and efficiency and helps her customers visualize, experiment, and make the decisions they need to bring their own hospitality dreams to life!
